Help get more public drinking fountains to reduce the amount of bottled drinks bought.
Good access to water in outdoor public places is an important health and environmental issue. But as few as 1-in-10 parks and 1-in-5 children’s playgrounds in NZ have water fountains so people have to buy drinks in single use plastic- with approx’ 838M thrown away each year.
We want the Government to legislate that all councils are to have public drinking fountains in 50% of playgrounds, parks and sports grounds.
SIGN NOW to get public drinking fountains in 50% of playgrounds, parks, and sports grounds in 2020.
Its important to at NOW as later this year a new Crown entity to regulate water Taumata Arowai will be set up. This will have a range of objectives and functions, including protecting and promoting public health outcomes. Greater provision of public water fountains will help with better public health outcomes.
